Despite advancements in construction technology, water leakage remains a chronic problem in the construction industry. In the construction sector, leakage is often regarded as an insurmountable challenge due to the technical limitations of waterproofing construction for concrete structures.

Even if foundation work is technically perfect, if plants such as trees grow on the surface of the concrete, their roots penetrate the concrete, creating cracks through which water inevitably leaks. Since most waterproofing materials used at construction sites fail to prevent the penetration of plant roots, this directly leads to structural damage and leakage.

Amidst this, Renew System Co., Ltd., a South Korean high-tech materials company, is drawing attention for achieving 100% complete waterproofing during the "Road Structure Improvement Project in Front of Changgyeonggung Palace on Yulgok-ro," even amidst this summer's long rainy season and successive heavy downpours.

Yulgok-ro is a road that was damaged by the Japanese colonial government as part of their policy to eradicate the Korean national spirit. Currently, construction is underway to tunnel the road and restore a green park on top. Renew System Co., Ltd., which successfully completed complete waterproofing work at this historic site, is a leading South Korean waterproofing company that utilizes its own proprietary waterproofing materials and construction methods. In 2013, its self-developed waterproofing material was designated as one of the "Top 10 New Technologies in Korea." Furthermore, the leak repair method using this waterproofing material is listed in ISO TR 16475 and is utilized as an international standard technology.
